I have always been an entrepreneur. After graduating from Radford University in 1990 with a B.S. in Economics, I started my first business, Barnacle Jim’s Boat Service, which specialized in the cleaning and detailing of boats. The business transitioned quickly to auto detailing and then to aircraft cleaning by 1994. Changing the name to Sharp Details, I began to focus on growing the aviation side of my business. Known in the aviation industry as the premier company of its kind, Sharp Details now has over seventy employees operating in eight states from south Florida to Connecticut. Varying my business interests, I also speak, provide business consulting, and have been a regular guest lecturer at Georgetown University. In March of 2010, I published my first book, author, publishing his first book, The Practical Guide to Exceptional Living. I also serve on the board as the membership chairman for both the GWBAA (Greater Washington Business Aviation Association) and WAMA (Westchester Aviation Maintenance Association). I enjoy spending time with my wife and high school sweetheart, Carrie, and our four children, Bayley, Ellie, Jack, and Benjamin as well surfing and golfing regularly.
In July of 2006, I started with Sharp Details as the Operations Manager, taking on the role of managing all the day-to-day activity for the company. On a daily basis, I am involved with the streamlining of processes, product improvement, and maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction. I was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2009. Prior to working for Sharp Details, I held a management position for 15 years for the United Parcel Service, working in several different departments throughout my career. Today, I have the privilege of working with some of the most highly skilled employees in the industry that continue to deliver the top standard in aviation cleaning. Aside from working, I enjoy coaching my son and daughter’s lacrosse and basketball teams and skiing and golfing with my family.
I have been with Sharp Details since 2001. I have over thirty years of experience as a Corporate Controller or Chief Financial Officer with companies including a wholesale distributor and a government contractor. During this time, I have been responsible for establishing accounting procedures, cash flow management, contract pricing proposals, negotiating and maintaining borrowing relationships with leading institutions, internal financial reporting, compliance with multi-state and federal agencies, and supervising accounting staffs of up to ten people. Aside from managing Sharp Details’ finances, I enjoy travelling.
I have been working in aviation since 1993. After starting off working for the airlines, I soon became very involved working on the corporate side of aviation. I bring years of management skills and experience to the table and would have to say that my time as a Site Manager with Sharp Details have been the best. I enjoy working side by side with the greatest management team I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. My team and I love to make those planes shine, and we take great pride in a job well done. I am married with two of the greatest kids in the world and love them dearly. I have had a passion for music my whole life and used to play guitar for a band in the DC area. I also enjoy the great outdoors and love to go camping with friends and family.
For my entire adult life I have been detailing cars and motorcycles as both a hobby and a business and love all things mechanical. After 11 years of working in production with Pfizer I realized it was time for a change. I started with Sharp Details in March of 2007 and have fallen in love with the aviation industry. Polishing brightwork is my specialty and the great team that I lead, keeps customers coming back for more. My hobbies include detailing motorcycles, motorcycle riding, playing video games with my kids, remote control cars/trucks, bicycle riding with my family, going to zoos, aquariums, and amusement parks. I am blessed with two wonderful children (1-boy and 1-girl) whom I love with all my heart and would do anything to keep them smiling. I have also been married to my soul mate since 1998 and she supports me and gets me through each and every day.
I have been in the detailing industry since 1996, and have worked in aviation since 1999. Starting in aviation detailing as a service tech, I have moved my way up through the ranks as a lead tech, assistant manager, and currently work as a site manager for the IAD location in Virginia. In that time, I have learned how to speak to the aircraft, at least that’s what my team tells me. I just know how to treat the aircraft by just looking at and touching the plane. During my time with Sharp Details, my expertise has been making our clients smile when we are done with their aircraft. My hobbies include listening to music, playing games with my kids, and watching movies with my family. I’ve been married to my wife, Tanida, since 2003, and we have three wonderful children, Justin, Jaelynn, and Jordan.
I have been with Sharp Details since 2006, but have been in the building maintenance industry for over twenty years, coming from the Fairfax County Public School system as a building superintendent. My complete knowledge of building maintenance, years of experience in carpet cleaning, stripping and waxing floors, and my certification in wood and marble restoration has helped me keep my customers satisfied. I am a single mother of six wonderful kids. Kathy is an xray-tech, Miguel works for DC News channel 7, Natalie is a nurse at Children’s Hospital, my twins are attending West Point Academy and my youngest, Jennifer, is attending Radford University.
I’ve worked for Sharp Details since the summer of 2011. As Confucius said “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”. Those words ring true for me. I enjoy every aspect of aviation. It was my father first introduced me to aviation. He was a crew chief in the United States Marine Corps on HMX-1 for President Ford. My sister worked on 53′s in the Navy. My brother worked on Apaches in the Army. I was the black sheep of my family and served my country as an infantryman in United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps instilled in me an attention to detail, which serves me well working for detailing company. I’m a volunteer firefighter with my sister and we deliver food for “meals on wheels”. I enjoy watching baseball and hockey but most of all I enjoy reading and spending time with my two wonderful children.
I began flying lessons in 1972 while working at a small airport in Jeannette PA. In 1997 I graduated from Miami-Dade College where I earned a degree in Flight Engineering and Aviation Management. My career has spanned from line manager at CSX to Deputy Executive Director for Planning and Facilities Development for RIC. In 2000, I became the Manager of Highway Safety and Maintenance for the Pocahontas Parkway in Richmond VA. Since starting with Sharp Details in 2009 I have found it as close to working in a family business as can be. From the top down, we all have a respect for each other and honestly care about one another. At Sharp Details we all have this need to satisfy our customers and to “wow” the aviation world with our work. Married since 1990, my wife and I have two wonderful children and we enjoy boating, water skiing and show cars.
I began my career in aviation in 2004 and quickly became fascinated with the Corporate Aviation side of the business. I have grown with the business aviation community, and it has shaped me into the person that I am today. Since beginning with Sharp Details in 2012, my background of Excellence in Customer Service has brought a new perspective to the company. I look forward to the direction that Sharp Details is taking, and I am excited to be growing with this side of the industry. My hobbies are going to the Movie Theater, Museums and summer music concerts with my daughter Marlene. I love cheering her on and motivating her when she is playing Soccer and Basketball, but most of all I have enjoyed the humbling experience of watching her grow into a beautiful and kind human being.
