Jim has always been an entrepreneur and started his first business, Barnacle Jim’s Boat Service after graduating from Radford University with a degree in Economics in 1990. The business quickly transitioned into auto detailing and then aircraft cleaning in 1994. Changing the name to Sharp Details, Jim began focusing on growing the aviation side of the business. Today Sharp Details is one of the premier companies of its kind, and has 60 employees operating in seven states throughout the North East. Jim has varied business interests and is also a business consultant and 
author, publishing his first book, The Practical Guide to Exceptional Living in December of 2009. Jim also serves on the board as the secretary for the GWBAA (Greater Washington Business Aviation Association). Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and high school sweetheart, Carrie and their four children, Bayley, Ellie, Jack, and Benjamin. When not spending time with his family or his business, Jim likes to golf and surf with his friends and also enjoys cooking and working out regularly.

I am involved with the streamlining of processes, product improvement and maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction. In 2009, I was promoted to Vice President of Operations. Prior to Sharp Details, I worked for United Parcel Service in the Metropolitan D.C. area. I was in a management position for 15 years and worked in several different departments throughout my career, with a focus on operations improvement, industrial engineering and employee development. Today, I have the privilege of working with some of the most highly skilled employees in the industry that continue to deliver the top standard in aviation cleaning. I enjoy coaching my son and daughters lacrosse and basketball teams and skiing and golfing with my family.

During this time I have been responsible for establishment of accounting procedures, cash flow management, contract pricing proposals, negotiating and maintaining borrowing relationships with lending institutions, Internal Financial Reporting, Compliance with Multi-State and Federal Agencies, and Supervising Accounting Staff of up to 10 people. I have been working in aviation for 17 years. I started off working for the airlines but soon became very involved working on the Corporate side of aviation. I bring 12 years of management skills to the table and would have to say that the past three years as a Site Manager with Sharp Details have been the best. I enjoy working side by side with the greatest management team I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. I love to make those planes shine and my team and I take great pride in a job well done. I am married with two of the greatest kids in the world and love them dearly. I have had a passion for music for the past 25 years and currently play guitar for a band in the DC area. Other hobbies include reading, playing video games with my kids and model making. I have been in the detailing industry for the past 17 years, with the last 12 years being dedicated to aviation. I starting in aviation detailing as a service tech and moved my way up through the ranks as a lead tech, assistant manager, and currently work as the site manager. In my 12 years I have learned how to speak to the aircraft, at least that’s what my team tells me. I just know how to treat the aircraft by just looking and touching the plane. During my 8 years with Sharp Details my expertise has been making our clients smile when we are done. My hobbies are listening to music, playing games with my kids and watching movies with the family.
